The south end of the Grand Strand, which includes Surfside Beach, Garden City and Murrells Inlet, is quieter and more relaxed than Myrtle Beach proper. It is also where a lot of visitors rent houses and condos. If you are staying here, this is how to plan dinner.

Surfside Beach and Garden City

Surfside Beach is known as the "Family Beach", with a pier and a small-town feel. Garden City is directly to the south, with its own pier and beachfront. Both are a short drive from each other, and from the middle of the strip it is mostly one road: Highway 17.

Where Pirate's Table fits

Pirate's Table is at 1100 Water Ave in Surfside Beach, so for guests here it is a local dinner, not a day trip. It's a Calabash-style seafood buffet with crab legs, oysters, carved prime rib and a dessert bar, plus live mermaids and a pirate-ship dining room.

  • Hours: Wednesday to Sunday, doors at 4 PM. Closed Monday and Tuesday.
  • Price: $52.99 adult cash / $54.63 card; child $25.99 cash / $26.80 card; 4 and under free.
  • Parking: free on site.

A simple evening plan

  1. Spend the afternoon on the beach or at the pier.
